NTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Tsujigami) is pleased to announce the completion of the Imaizumi Park Front Project, which is being developed in Imaizumi 1-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City.
In addition, the opening date of the hotel "lyf Tenjin Fukuoka," managed by UD Hospitality Management Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshiyuki Sayama) and operated by The Ascott Limited (headquarters: Singapore; CEO: Kevin Goh; hereinafter referred to as "Ascott"), has been set for Wednesday, June 16, 2021, and reservations will begin today, Monday, February 8, 2021.
Development Concept
CREATOR × CULTURE × COMPLEX
~A complex facility integrated with the park where you can experience Fukuoka culture~
The facility is located in Imaizumi, Fukuoka, adjacent to the Tenjin district, the commercial center of Fukuoka, an area that has seen a concentration of unique stores in recent years. It faces Imaizumi Park, a symbolic spot in the area that has been affectionately known as "Triangle Park" by local residents.
As Fukuoka City works to realize its vision of becoming a "Global Startup City, Fukuoka," there is a need to improve the mobility hubs in and around Tenjin, create exchange hubs to support startups, and develop attractive business and living environments. This facility aims to become a hub for creation and information dissemination, allowing millennial creators and startups active both in Japan and overseas to experience and interact with the culture of Fukuoka and Imaizumi (food, lifestyle, music, etc.).
Facility Configuration
The third to ninth floors will house "lyf Tenjin Fukuoka," a coliving-style hotel operated by Ascott and its first in Japan, while the first and second floors will house shared offices for "LIFORK Imaizumi (tentative name)," a shared space business developed and operated by NTT Urban Development Corporation and its first foray into a regional city. The rooftop will house an open-air bar with views of Imaizumi Park.
The lower floors, from the first to third floors facing the park, will have large openings to let in fresh air, and multiple terrace spaces will be located throughout the facility, creating an open and comfortable space. With a co-working lounge that provides an environment for working as well as staying overnight, and a terrace where dining and drinking are available, the facility will also accommodate new lifestyles in the COVID-19 era.
Building Concept
“PARK & NEST”
The image is of people gathering in a nest-like space in a park.
On the exterior facing Imaizumi Park, the cast aluminum facade features a complex geometric pattern and various openings of different sizes, allowing the activity inside to shine through and creating a new landscape that will become a symbol of the Imaizumi area.
Building Features
Nikken Sekkei Ltd. and SUEP. Inc. were invited as design partners for this facility, and the overall structure is symmetrical and the hotel guest rooms are based on a compact plan. The steel frame interior is enclosed within a reinforced concrete outer shell structure, making the guest rooms easy to use, comfortable, and structurally rational.
The cast aluminum exterior wall facing the park, which will be the face of the facility, will be gradually greened from the lower floors onwards, creating a landscape that will mature over time into an integrated relationship with the park.
The facade also features a green irrigation system, with water circulating through aluminum panels shaped like leaf veins, creating an environmental device that cools the space beneath the feet with greenery and water.
Ample walking space will be provided around the facility, helping to improve the comfort of pedestrians as they move around the area.
