Promoting the realization of a city that becomes a destination for reconnecting and interacting

NTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Tsujigami) is pleased to announce that the official name of the district in the "(tentative name) Akasaka 2-Chome Project" (construction to begin on January 15, 2021, with the first phase scheduled for completion and opening in August 2024; hereinafter "the Project"), which it is conducting jointly with Mori Trust Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Miwako Date), has been decided to be "Tokyo World Gate Akasaka" and the building name to be "Akasaka TRUST TOWER."

The plan aims to create a destination where diverse people can once again meet and interact in the future beyond the new normal, and has decided on the block concept of "Next Destination - Let's meet again in the city." By developing functions that will attract people and proposing new normal ways of working and lifestyles, the plan will bring even more vitality and excitement to the Toranomon/Akasaka area, which is evolving into Tokyo's international business hub.

On the office floor, we will contribute to improving engagement and expanding quality communication by responding more flexibly to the diverse needs of our client companies.

The Akasaka area is also dotted with famous sites that convey Edo culture to the present day, such as Akasaka Hikawa Shrine and the remains of feudal lord residences, creating a unique streetscape. This plan aims to create a new tourist hub by developing large-scale green spaces, an international-standard hotel, and facilities to promote history and culture.

In this project, we will not only function as a gateway connecting Japan with the world, but also contribute to the future development of the Japanese economy by becoming a new destination that connects people, history and the future.

The thoughts behind the logo

While following the design that evokes the image of a "gate to the world," which is the symbol of the Tokyo World Gate brand, the color of the letters is madder red, inspired by the "Akanesaka" that is said to be the origin of the place name "Akasaka." This expresses the desire to "inherit the history of the land and develop it into a base that will accelerate global business."

A new landmark has been born in Akasaka, a political and cultural center, on a vast site that brings together the diverse functions required for the daily lives of office workers and an international business hub.

A comfortable office space that supports a well-being work style

We are planning to develop a large-scale green space that will connect to the Akasaka-Toranomon Greenway. The comfortable space will create a "well-being" workplace that will contribute to improving the physical and mental health and productivity of office workers.

The building will also house a variety of functions, including an international-standard hotel, cafes, restaurants, a clinic, and a limousine bus stop, to support the daily lives of office workers. The location of historical and cultural facilities that blend seamlessly with the local community will also create new opportunities for interaction and excitement.

Safety and security measures for everyday life and in times of disaster

The building employs a mid-story seismic isolation structure to reduce earthquake tremors. In the unlikely event of a power outage due to various factors, the cogeneration system and emergency power generation will be linked to continuously supply 80% of the normal electricity to the exclusive areas for one week, thereby backing up the continuity of business for tenant companies.

Contributing to the realization of a sustainable society through advanced environmental performance

In addition to energy conservation and environmental impact reduction measures, we aim to achieve the highest possible S rank in CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment of Built Environment Efficiency), which comprehensively evaluates the environmental performance of buildings. We are also considering the use of renewable energy sources to help our tenant companies promote decarbonization.
