The building is located near Higobashi Station on the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line and is a 13-story hotel with a total floor area of approximately 10,600 m2. IHG Hotels & Resorts (headquartered in the UK) will operate the "voco Osaka Central" hotel. The hotel is scheduled to open on May 30, 2023. ■Development concept
The Kyomachibori area surrounding the planned site has long been a place where merchants opened markets and prospered as a town for the common people, contributing to the development of Osaka. Today, it is home to a collection of unique shops, and even today, the area still feels lively and bustling. The concept of this project is "Color from here. Travel from here." The aim was to add new "color" to the town by creating a bustling atmosphere with the hotel as its base, contributing to further enhancing the appeal of Kyomachibori and Yotsubashi-suji, as well as to create a base for "traveling" around Osaka, welcoming people with a variety of purposes, including tourism and business.
■Exterior design
By incorporating the terracotta relief design code of the previous building into the design and using granite for the base, the hotel has been made into a symbolic building that exudes dignity and friendliness.
The main exterior walls incorporate Osaka's history as a prosperous textile industry, and are clad in a fine surface reminiscent of raw silk, providing a gentle welcome to visitors.
■Initiatives to reduce environmental impact
Based on the NTT Urban Solutions Group's slogan "Green Future with US," NTT Urban Development Group is working to reduce environmental impact with the aim of realizing a sustainable, carbon-neutral society.
This project involves the installation of rainwater storage tanks, the adoption of low-e glass, the introduction of BEMS (visualization of energy consumption), and the reuse of old wood.
