ACTIVE COMMUNITY PARK (Representative Corporation: NTT Urban Development Corporation; Developers: EDION Corporation, Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd., RCC Culture Center Co., Ltd., The Chugoku Shimbun Co., Ltd.; Implementing Corporations: NTT Urban Value Support Corporation, NTT FACILITIES Inc., Taisei Corporation, Nippon Koei Urban Space Co., Ltd., and UID Inc.), the operator of the "Central Park Plaza Area Development, Management and Operation Project" (hereinafter referred to as the Project), is pleased to announce that it has begun development of facilities in the plaza area at 15 Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture (within Hiroshima City Central Park, next to the new soccer stadium) and that the name of the new commercial facility to be built within the plaza area has been decided to be "HiroPa." The development facilities are scheduled to begin operation in August 2024.
The plaza area to be developed this time is a place of relaxation for citizens, with greenery and a river on both sides of the new soccer stadium, "EDION Peace Wing Hiroshima." This project will develop playground equipment that will make full use of the natural environment of the central park plaza, as well as a commercial facility where people can enjoy the food and culture unique to Hiroshima.
This project aims to create a future-oriented stadium park that will foster a variety of ACTIVE activities for not only Hiroshima residents but also visitors from within and outside the prefecture and overseas, fostering new COMMUNITY interactions and creating scenes of everyday activity and relaxation. Based on this, we have established the following concepts and will proceed with facility development.
【concept】
Maintenance Facilities
⑴ Playground equipment for playing in nature (specified park facilities )
In the plaza area on the east side of the new soccer stadium, play equipment will be installed that blends in with the lush surrounding environment, creating a world in which forest creatures seem to be running around on the branches. In addition to inclusive play equipment that children using wheelchairs and walkers can play on, tactile and sound-producing equipment will be placed among the trees, creating a playground where everyone can enjoy themselves safely and have fun.
(2) A commercial facility that blends seamlessly with the new soccer stadium (a publicly-recruited park facility )
A total of six commercial facilities (five in the east plaza area and one in the west plaza area) will be constructed in the east and west plaza areas flanking the new soccer stadium.
The facilities in the east plaza area are planned to include cafes, restaurants, and stores selling local products from Hiroshima Prefecture, and the horizontal roofs and eaves will follow the circular garden path to create a sense of unity with the new soccer stadium, while the exterior wall design will harmonize with the new soccer stadium, and some of the eaves will use wood sourced in the prefecture to create a warm plaza space. In addition, the west plaza area adjacent to the Motomachi Environmental Seawall will be equipped with a space that will serve as a base for waterside activities, a river view restaurant, and more.
Commercial facility name
The new commercial facilities (East Side Plaza Area, Buildings A to EF, and West Side Plaza Area, Building G) are designed to be an "urban oasis" where people of all ages can enjoy the lush greenery of nature in the heart of Hiroshima City, where they can engage in their own activities and create a new community and lifestyle. We hope that people of all ages will enjoy their activities in this "urban oasis" of lush nature in the heart of Hiroshima City! The building will be named "HiroPa (HIROPA)" with the hope that "people of all ages will engage in their own activities and create new communities and lifestyles in this 'urban oasis' of lush greenery and nature in the heart of Hiroshima City, and that smiles will bloom.
