【overview】
This is a multi-tenant office building located near the Chikushi exit of Hakata Station.
As the "first example of deregulation in Hakata Connected," the building was planned to contribute as a new urban hub that connects the vitality and prosperity of the area around Hakata Station.
A cubic volume with sides of approximately 50m has been placed in the center of the site, which is bordered on the north and south sides. A large plaza that is connected to the city is secured in front of the building, and by hosting events to create excitement in the surrounding area, it has created a circulation route from Hakata Station.
The facade is made up of layers of concrete and glass, with the outer beams used as the exterior. The shadows created by the unevenness of the concrete exterior create a rich expression that changes over time, creating a relaxing space for not only the building workers but also visitors to the area.
It is expected that this building, integrated with the plaza in the Chikushiguchi streetscape, will create a new landscape for the area and contribute to the development of the town. (Awarded jointly with Taisei Corporation)
[Evaluation by the judges]
The building has a truly simple and sturdy appearance, with nothing but the texture of the exposed concrete beams and the shadows created by the unevenness of the facade. The corner columns have been made as thin as possible, giving it a sense of transparency. In Fukuoka, where the Showa-era streetscape is undergoing a major transformation, the building's appeal lies in the way it has retained the city's dignified feel and texture while also meeting modern needs, and we highly praised it for that.
2.Hiroo Residence Concept Room

【overview】
This project involved the renovation of a room in a high-grade apartment in the Hiroo area.
In recent years, there have been changes in luxury preferences, changes in working styles, changes and diversification in attitudes towards spending time at home, and increased awareness of physical and mental health. Taking into account these lifestyle changes and the accelerating efforts towards a decarbonized society, we reconsidered what makes a life richer in line with the modern era. Based on the concept of "Crafted Home," which is the foundation of this design, we considered what a space with a more essential richness would be.
Keiji Ashizawa, the designer hired to realize the concept, oversaw the spatial composition, material selection, finishing details, and the coordination and design of the furniture and interior windows, while Karimoku Furniture produced the interior materials and furniture, providing an essential comfort in a home through the use of natural materials. Furthermore, the interior windows, along with the interior materials and furniture, are made from wood, which not only improves insulation but also creates a sense of unity in the design of the entire space. [Evaluation by the judges]
The project was praised for its pursuit of the essential comfort people desire and its embodiment in the design. The lines and surfaces of the space are simplified while linking with the floor plan and facility plan, the colors and light are adjusted, and natural materials are used to create a sense of unity. There are also lustrous areas in certain areas, which seem to be waiting for the residents. In this way, the renovation has created a sense of spaciousness throughout the space, and it can be said that this margin for the residents is the essence of the project.
