NTT Urban Development Corporation (hereinafter "NTT Urban Development"), NTT Urban Solutions Corporation (hereinafter "NTT Urban Solutions"), and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation Shikoku Branch (hereinafter "NTT West Shikoku Branch") have been discussing the demolition of existing buildings on the NTT West Shikoku Branch site (4-3 Ichibancho, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture), relocation of employees, and subsequent utilization of the site. We are pleased to announce that we have decided to carry out the "NTT Matsuyama Ichibancho Project" (hereinafter "this Project"), a mixed-use development project that will work with local residents to develop the town and help resolve social issues in the region.
The site for this project is located in the heart of Matsuyama Castle, a nationally designated important cultural property, and in the center of the government district, and is an important location where NTT West Shikoku Branch has deepened its ties with the local community. It is also the former site of Matsuyama Junior High School, a place associated with Natsume Soseki, who set the classic novel "Botchan," and is a place that has walked alongside Matsuyama's history.
As the first mixed-use development project undertaken in the Shikoku region, NTT Urban Development and NTT Urban Solutions aim to further enhance Matsuyama's appeal by providing a place for diverse activities such as working, living, and gathering, as well as a space where people can interact, and to create an urban development that will serve as a catalyst for the sustainable growth of the region. In addition, we will continue to exchange opinions with the prefecture, city, and companies that have development plans in the surrounding area and continue to consider the project further.
NTT West Shikoku Branch plans to relocate NTT West Group employees working in the building scheduled for demolition to the new Shikoku Branch Building* currently under construction, and will continue to work together with the local community in this area.
- ※Currently under construction as the new flagship building for NTT West Shikoku Branch (scheduled for completion in December 2024). NTT West Group companies will be housed there.
