GLION ARENA KOBE Project Obtains "ZEB Ready" Certification- Japan's first large-scale arena facility (capacity 10,000 people)

December 7, 2023 NTT Urban Development Corporation

NTT Urban Development Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Tsujigami) is pleased to announce that the GLION ARENA KOBE Project, which is currently under development and construction will begin in April 2023, with completion scheduled for February 2025 and opening in April 2025, has become the first large-scale arena facility (capacity of 10,000 people) in Japan *1 to receive ZEB Ready certification.

Based on the NTT Urban Solutions Group's slogan of reducing environmental impact, we are actively working on environmentally friendly real estate development, including obtaining environmental certifications such as ZEB.

This property has achieved a reduction of approximately 52% from the standard primary energy consumption by reducing the air conditioning load by reducing the arena volume *2, installing a total heat exchanger, and controlling the amount of outside air introduced using CO2 concentration sensors, etc., and has earned the highest rating (five stars) in the BELS (Building Energy Efficiency Labeling System) certification, as well as ``ZEB Ready'' certification *3 on September 30, 2023.

We will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable, carbon-neutral society through the development of buildings with excellent environmental performance.

  • *1Based on the "List of Case Studies of Properties That Have Been Issued BELS Assessment Certificates" (Housing Performance Evaluation and Labeling Association, as of November 20, 2023), this is the first arena facility in Japan with a capacity of 10,000 or more.
  • *2The V-shaped roof design will reduce the air volume inside the arena, reducing the air conditioning load.
  • *3ZEB Ready is defined as "an advanced building with a view to ZEB, equipped with high-insulation outer shells and highly efficient energy-saving equipment." The criteria for this is a building that meets the criteria of reducing primary energy consumption by 50% or more from the standard primary energy consumption, excluding renewable energy. The ZEB Ready certification scope for this facility covers the "viewing area" use, excluding the restaurant and retail areas.

Key points for improving environmental performance
