Regarding the utilization plan for the former Shinmichi School site and Capella Kyoto

Capella Kyoto will be built on the site of Shindo Elementary School, located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. This school was established in 1869 (Meiji 2) by local residents as one of the local Shinmichi schools and has been loved for over 100 years. In addition to approximately 90 guest rooms, including suites, the hotel will be equipped with a restaurant, banquet halls, and a spa, and as the flagship hotel of the Capella Hotel Group, it will offer world-class hospitality. The hotel's interior design will be handled by Brewin Design Office, an interior design firm based in Singapore. Brewin Design Office was founded in 2012 by Robert Chen and has worked on numerous projects throughout Asia, mainly focusing on hotels, luxury residences, and commercial facilities. Capella Kyoto will be the first hotel in Japan for which Brewin Design Office is in charge of interior design.

Furthermore, the Miyagawacho Kaburenjo, which will be reborn alongside Capella Kyoto, is a venue where geiko and maiko from Miyagawacho, one of Kyoto's five geisha districts, hone their traditional performing arts and present their work. By implementing integrated development that combines the hotel and local facilities, the aim is to inherit the "memories of the town" that the local people have preserved for generations, create "new value for coexistence," and further develop Shinmichi area and the geisha district culture.
