Click hereNTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kou Ikeda) is pleased to announce the opening of Kanda Taichi Koji (hereinafter referred to as the Property), a new and vibrant hub in the Kanda Station West Exit area, where the company is promoting urban development.
The property is located a two-minute walk from JR Kanda Station, in an area lined with charming alleyways lined with restaurants. The surrounding area is a historic downtown area with many spaces that exude the essence and history of Kanda, such as Satake Inari Shrine and Shusse Fudoson, which are associated with the Akita Satake Domain.
The property consists of a plaza of approximately 130 m2 that can be opened for local events, an alleyway that connects the east and west sides to improve accessibility, and two store buildings made of cedar from Akita Prefecture that carries on the history of Kanda. Through this property, we will contribute to creating a lively atmosphere in the Kanda Station West Exit area and further building a community for local residents.
■About the origin of the name "Kanda Taichi Koji"
The old name of the town where this property is located was "Tachicho," and even today the old town name remains in the name of the neighborhood association, "Tachicho 1-chome Neighborhood Association," and the name of the street in front, "Tachicho Oodori." As this is a name that is widely familiar in the area, we have adopted the "Ta" from Tachicho and the "Ichi" from 1-chome as the property's official name.
■Features of this property
Open to local events and used as a community park
Until now, there has not been a large open space in this area, so local events have been held on the road. However, by opening up the approximately 130m2 open space developed at this property to the local community, it has become possible to hold a variety of events.
Prior to the opening of this property, the "Tsunagari Kanda" event, held in October 2024 by the Kanda Station West Exit Shopping District Promotion Association and adopted by Chiyoda Ward as part of its "Community-Led Walkable Activities (Demonstration Experiments of Placemaking, etc. *)," utilized the area and attracted many visitors to the children's play area, sake tasting events, mini open theater, and more. Going forward, we will continue to use the plaza to hold various events, with the aim of creating a new community park that is beloved by everyone.
- Based on the "Chiyoda Ward Walkable Urban Development Design" formulated by Chiyoda Ward in June 2022, this demonstration experiment aims to see what impact this will have on local residents and whether it will cause changes in the flow of cars and people by actually trying to turn public spaces such as roads into places for relaxation and various activities in response to local issues. 15 applications were received in 2024, and five activities, including this event, were selected.
The building is made from cedar and other materials from Gojome Town, Akita Prefecture, which is a sister city of Chiyoda Ward.
The exterior walls of the store building are made of Akita cedar, and the building nameplate and part of the interior are made of cedar from Gojome Town, Akita Prefecture, which is a sister city of Chiyoda Ward. Near this property is Satake Inari Shrine, which has ties to the Akita Satake Domain and was the reason why the two cities became sister cities, and the building has inherited this history.

Gofukuya (Obon Zip)

This hugely popular Korean restaurant with 300 stores in Korea is opening its first store in Japan!
The specialty is the "Obon Special" (pictured left), a set of "fried long-legged octopus, bossam (boiled pork), and makguksu (Korean-style mixed noodles)."
It has been featured in many Korean media outlets, including TV dramas, entertainment shows, and YouTube. Enjoy the authentic Korean flavor.
Yakitori Nonki
Scheduled opening: Monday, December 23rd
This is the third store from the Nonki group, which is famous for its Motsuyaki Nonki restaurant, which already has two stores in the Kanda area, and is a yakitori restaurant.
The atmosphere is slightly different from the previous "carefree" style, creating a "high-quality, popular feel."
Even those who don't like grilled offal and are against offal might become fans of "Nonki" after this experience.
