NTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kou Ikeda) is pleased to announce that construction has begun on the "(Tentative name) Kyoto Station Southeast Area Site A Project" (15-3 Higashiiwamotocho, Higashikujo, Minami-ku, Kyoto City, and other locations). The facility is scheduled to open in the winter of 2026.
This project is part of the Kyoto City's "Kyoto Station Southeast Area Revitalization Policy," in which our company will construct a facility that will serve as a "creative and communication hub that will generate new value" on city-owned land in the southeast area of Kyoto Station.
The first floor will house an experiential art center called "Superblue Kyoto." Superblue, a major international art project founded by the CEOs of the New York mega-gallery PACE, is participating in the planning, and large-scale immersive works by international artists will be exhibited on a regularly rotating basis.
On the second floor, we will have a gallery that will display products from local businesses, including traditional crafts, as well as works by students and young artists, creating an opportunity to communicate the potential appeal of the works.
Along with the adjacent "(tentative name) Kyoto Station Southeast Area Site B Project: teamLab Biovortex Kyoto" (opening in October 2025), this project will contribute to the promotion of culture and the arts that Kyoto City aims to promote in the southeast area of Kyoto Station, as well as urban development centered on young people.
