The Naniwa Palace Ruins Park "Minnanoniwa" Project (hereinafter referred to as "this group") (representative member: NTT Urban Development Corporation), which is promoting the "Naniwa Palace Ruins Park (Northern Block) Development and Operation Project and Naniwa Palace Ruins (Southern Block) Management and Operation Project (hereinafter referred to as "this project *1")," is pleased to announce that it has decided to name the commercial facility in Naniwa Palace Ruins Park (Northern Block), which is currently under development, "Nano Niwa."
Our group is working on this project with the business concept of "Minnanoniwa Naniwanomiya," and we position this place as a town "town" that will inherit the history of Naniwanomiya and be used, protected, and nurtured by citizens as their own place. We aim to maximize its charm and pass it on to the future together with the citizens as a place where citizens can meet, develop affection and pride, and weave a new history.
The entire northern block is scheduled to open in late March 2025, with a total of 13 stores planned to open in Nano Niwa.
- In preparation for the 1,400th anniversary of the relocation of the capital to the Naniwa Palace site in 2050, we aim to preserve and utilize the nationally designated historic site, the Naniwa Palace Ruins and Hoenzaka Ruins, and to pass it on to future generations. In order to experience the image of the Naniwa Palace ruins, which are full of historical charm, we are carrying out a maintenance and operation project to create a lively atmosphere by developing a park and utilizing the entire Naniwa Palace ruins.
■Commercial facility "Nanoniwa"
<Origin of the name>
The "na" in Naniwa contains many ideas, such as "to relax," "to get along," "everyone is comfortable," and "somehow it feels good." The name "Nano Niwa" was chosen with the hope that the historic Naniwa Palace ruins would be opened to the public and become a facility within a "niwa" that would be bustling with many people.
<Facility logo>
[Facility logo concept]
The symbol mark is based on the raised floor structure of the Imperial Palace Main Hall of the later Naniwa Palace, which is scheduled to be restored as part of this project, and symbolizes the "na" character, which represents the various feelings embodied in the name. The "nanoniwa" logotype, designed in lowercase English letters, has a rounded and rhythmic feel, expressing the image of budding grass and the comfort and enjoyment of spending time on the grass.
By combining a symbol mark using hiragana with an English logotype, we are simultaneously communicating the park's appeal as a hub where international cultures intertwine, and its familiarity with the local area. We are also emphasizing the park's individuality as both a historical park and an urban park adjacent to multiple tourist sites, drawing out its friendliness, uniqueness, and international appeal.
Furthermore, the green that evokes a grassy plaza is toned down with black, creating the image of a park in the city.
We hope that the appeal of this design will reach many people and that it will become a design that will be loved for a long time.

[Comment from Mr. Suzuki]
"It's great to have such a wide view of the sky in urban Osaka," was my first impression when I visited the site after being commissioned to do this job. The "n" in "it's just so great" is what I meant when I named and designed the logo, hoping that it will become an even more beloved place for both the locals who cherish it and those who will visit in the future.
