HICAP (the "Best of the Best"), awarded to the best hotel that opened during the past year in the Reggie. Shiu We are pleased to announce that we have received the "Development of the Year Award".
Ace Hotel Kyoto, developed and owned by NTT Urban Development, also won the same award in 2020, making this its second time receiving the award.
HICAP is a traditional hotel investment conference attended by hotel investors, developers, design firms, hotel operators and others from around the world, and this year marks its 35th anniversary. The Reggie Shiu Development of the Year Award * is awarded to hotels that opened that year based on factors such as how they addressed challenges during development, their scale, innovation and profitability. Past recipients of the award include Park Hyatt Shanghai (2009), Marina Bay Sands (2010), Patina Maldives (2021) and Capella Sydney (2023).
- This award was named in honor of the achievements of Reggie Shiu, Senior Senior Executive Vice President of Accor Hotels Group, who died in the 2004 Sumatra earthquake.
Patina Osaka is the first hotel brand to enter Japan, located in a historic location overlooking Osaka Castle. Located in Naniwa Palace, a site of cultural heritage dating back over 1,000 years, the hotel aims to create new value for the city as an innovative luxury hotel that blends history, culture, nature and art.
The hotel's distinctive features include a modern expression of Japanese aesthetics, with a design inspired by the stone walls and Japanese materials of Osaka Castle, a harmonious space created by the interweaving of glass and natural materials, and guest rooms featuring tatami mats and washi paper art. Furthermore, the hotel has achieved sustainable development, with approximately half of the site designated as green space and having received ZEB Oriented certification and SEGES "Tsukuru Midori" certification.
We believe that this award is a recognition of the way in which we have combined historical preservation with urban revitalization.
In addition to the HICAP award it received this time, Patina Osaka has also received the AHEAD Asia Award for Best Suite Room (September 2025) and the Michelin Guide Hotel Selection for 1 Michelin Key (October 2025).
