February 13, 2025 NTT Urban Development Corporation

NTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasushi Ikeda; hereinafter "NTT Urban Development") is pleased to announce that it has decided to attract a "shared food hall" and an "urban aquarium" in the fall of 2025 on the 6th and 7th floors of the new "pacela *2," a commercial facility within Motomachi CRED, which will consist of the former site of the new Sogo Hiroshima store and currently operating stores. This will be followed by the rooftop garden "Sky Patio," which was previously renovated in spring 2024.

The new pacela will open sequentially from autumn 2025, aiming to become a commercial facility that will bring new vitality to the ever-evolving Kamiyacho/Motomachi area in central Hiroshima.

  • As of February 2025
  • "pacela" is the name of the commercial facility, derived from the words paseo (walk/Spanish), celeste (sky/Latin), and ala (wing/Latin), as a symbol of the meaning of "wings of the sky."

About the entertainment area

The new pacela will be centered around the 6th and 7th floors, which are connected by a walkway to the Rihga Royal Hotel Hiroshima and the adjacent Center Building (SOGO Hiroshima and Aqua Hiroshima Center Street), and will be positioned as an "entertainment area," offering new ways to spend time on things, such as having fun, eating, and relaxing.

In the area adjacent to the 6th floor rooftop garden "Sky Patio," a shared food hall called "re:Dine Hiroshima (tentative name)" will be opened by favy Inc. (CEO: Takumi Takanashi, headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as "favy"), which operates shared food halls and alleys across the country.

This facility will be the company's first in the Chugoku region and will be the largest food hall in Western Japan among the facilities operated by the company, following the much talked about re:Dine Osaka (Address: 1F JAM BASE, Grand Green Osaka North Building, 638 Ofukacho, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture). In addition to the regular menu, plans call for Hiroshima-related drinks and food to be offered, with the aim of creating a space for gathering and relaxation that can be enjoyed not only by local residents, but also by guests staying at the adjacent hotel, tourists, and foreign visitors.

The food hall also plans to host public viewings of various sports events held at the adjacent Sky Patio, as well as collaborate with various other events.

In our shared food hall, we are continually recruiting vendors to allow for flexible store rotation based on customer requests. Please see the following page for information on vendor recruitment at our facility.

An "urban aquarium" will open on the 7th floor, the only one of its kind in Hiroshima City (as of February 2025). Based on the facility renewal concept of the new "pacela," "changing the way people spend time in downtown Hiroshima," the aquarium will provide a space where people can casually drop in before or after shopping or dining, relaxing and offering an inspiring experience that brings the vitality of life up close.

Details of other participating stores will be announced as they are decided.
