NTT Urban Development Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kou Ikeda; hereinafter, "the Company") is pleased to announce that the Osaka Hoenzaka Hotel Project (Patina Osaka), currently under development, and the designated historic site being developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (collectively, "the Block") have become the first in Osaka City to receive the "SEGES (Social and Environmental Green Space Evaluation System) 'Tsukuru Midori' (Creation of Green Spaces)" certification (hereinafter, "this Certification") from the Organization for Landscape and Urban Green Infrastructure.
Based on NTT Urban Solutions Group's slogan for reducing environmental impact, "Green Future with US *," we are actively engaged in environmentally friendly real estate development.
This certification is given to outstanding green space environmental plans accompanying development and construction, and in this block, the plan to create a lush, comfortable space by providing lush greenery and waterfront space on the Patina Osaka site and three-dimensional terrace greenery on the lower floors of the building, as well as integrating it with the greenery of the nearby Osaka Castle Park and Naniwa Palace Ruins Park, was highly praised.
We will continue to steadily promote the development of this block, contributing to the creation of a green space hub in the center of Osaka City and increasing the appeal of the entire area by improving accessibility to the area.
■What is SEGES (Social and Environmental Contribution Green Space Evaluation System) "Tsukuru Midori"?
SEGES (Social and Environmental Green Evaluation System) is a system in which good green spaces created by companies and other organizations, as well as their daily activities and initiatives, are evaluated by a third-party review committee and certified by the Urban Landscape Infrastructure Organization (a public interest incorporated foundation) for their contributions to society and the environment, such as mitigating global warming and the heat island effect, preserving local ecosystems, preserving and creating beautiful landscapes, fostering community with the local community, and creating safe and secure cities.
The SEGES "Green Creation" category evaluates and certifies outstanding plans and projects related to the conservation and creation of green spaces and CSR activities of real estate developers with the aim of contributing to society and the environment. It promotes social recognition of the developers' efforts and contributes to the promotion of "green urban development" that respects the developers' autonomy.
