Facility Configuration

In the center of the hotel, Tang fromgable Hafu The courtyard, which is equipped with a roof inspired by the roof, a water basin, and a garden, is positioned as a symbolic space for the entire site. The approach from the entrance to the lobby incorporates elements that evoke the urban structure of Kyoto, such as narrow alleys, light through shoji screens, and the sound of water.

All 89 guest rooms feature the deep structure unique to "machiya" townhouses, traditional buildings that are symbolic of Kyoto, and incorporate features to enhance the quality of the stay, such as a bathing experience overlooking a small garden. The living room, which serves as a lounge where guests gather, is designed as a space enveloped in light reminiscent of Japanese paper lanterns.

The common areas feature a wide variety of restaurants, including the signature restaurant "SoNoMa by SingleThread," the Japanese restaurant "Yoi," and the all-day dining restaurant "Lanterne," as well as a pastry shop. The interior of the Japanese restaurant "Yoi" reuses wood and lighting fixtures that were actually used in a Kyoto elementary school, incorporating settings that preserve the memory of the region. Each restaurant offers a modern interpretation of Kyoto's culinary culture and aesthetic sense, offering a variety of dining experiences to suit the time of day and occasion of your stay. In addition, the hotel offers the "Auriga Spa," where you can enjoy natural hot springs and signature treatments, as well as banquet halls.

Signature Restaurant "SoNoMa by SingleThread"

Capella Kyoto's signature restaurant will be "SoNoMa by SingleThread." This restaurant was created through a collaboration between Capella Kyoto and the three-star Michelin restaurant SingleThread, based in Sonoma, California, and will be SingleThread's first overseas project.

Single Thread's owner, Kyle Connaughton, and owner and head farmer, Katina Connaughton, have built relationships with Japanese food culture and producers over many years through past stays, training, and collaborations in Japan. Kyoto is a city where ingredients, culture, and craftsmanship are highly integrated, and it is an important source of inspiration for Single Thread. In particular, Capella Kyoto, with its location in Miyagawacho, a place steeped in history and performing arts culture, and its emphasis on "combining cultural heritage with modernity," was chosen as the restaurant's first base in Japan and its first overseas location, due to its close affinity with the restaurant's initiatives.

The menu will feature Kyoto vegetables and flowers sourced from Kyoto and Kansai producers, as well as ingredients from Northern California (heirloom tomatoes, summer squash, peppers, hibiscus, etc.), and will feature a course menu that reflects the season and the local flavor. At the counter, guests can enjoy conversation with the chef over the open kitchen, while a one-day-only course will be served. The lounge bar will offer aperitifs and a wide selection of wines, primarily from the Old World, California, and Japan, as well as sake and Kansai spirits. The hotel's pastry shop will also offer seasonal sweets and light meals, both for dine-in and takeout.
